About Me

I’m Amr Salem, a Principal QA Engineer. I don't see QA as just finding bugs or blocking releases—it's about helping teams build better software without getting slowed down.

Based in Düsseldorf, Germany

"I’ve spent years trying to answer one question: How do we maintain high quality without sacrificing speed?"

My journey has taken me from high-growth startups to global enterprises. Currently, I’m leading the company-wide QA strategy at Cleverbridge, focusing on governance that actually helps teams instead of just adding more red tape.

What I’ve Learned So Far

Strategic Balance

I’ve learned that tools come and go. Real success isn't about using the freshest framework; it's about solving the actual problem. I focus on what makes sense for the team and the business, ensuring our automation strategy delivers real value, not just clean code.

The AI Frontier

I’m excited about AI, not because of the hype, but because of what it can actually do for us. If it helps us ship faster and breaks down complex problems, I'm all for it. It's about using technology to remove obstacles and get clear insights so we can move forward.

Strong Foundations & Diverse Roots

My approach is built on 15 years of professional experience. Before dedicating the last 10+ years to Software Quality Assurance, I spent 5 years working across diverse industries—from IT Help Desk and Maintenance Engineering to serving as an MWD Engineer in oil fields. This gritty, hands-on background reshaped my perspective, instilling a deep respect for reliability, troubleshooting under pressure, and the critical importance of systems that just work.

Global Perspective

I've worked with teams everywhere—from Egypt to Bosnia, and now Germany, along with clients in the USA, Australia, Russia, and Ireland. Every team is different, and I've learned that you can't just copy-paste a process. You have to build governance that works for the people involved, avoiding bottlenecks.

Life Outside The Screen

I’ve always felt that the best engineers are the ones who know when to step away from the keyboard.

I used to think of QA Architecture a lot like Parkour—it's about finding the most efficient path through a complex environment. That discipline from sports helps keep my head clear and my focus sharp.

Off the field, I channel that energy into writing. I try to share honest, hard-earned insights rather than just technical jargon. Whether mentoring or building tools, I aim to be adaptable and ready to solve whatever problem is in front of me.
